WHO AM I?
I'm Sue Raskin. Born, raised, and still living on the Florida Suncoast. I'm married with 3 grown girls (Cyndi, Anthea, and Naomi) and 5 grandkids (Emilie, Eliana, Grayson, Rowan, and Harley). I'm a registered nurse, reader, fairly good cook, lousy housekeeper, and an industrious crafter.
AMIGURUMI
I started crocheting when I was a teenager and have been doing it off and on ever since. I have always been a "spurt" crafter - do something for a while and then move on to something else, frequently leaving unfinished projects in my wake. But, I have always come back to crochet. Amigurumi is my newest crochet craze. I also make almost anythig you can imagine being made with a hook and some yarn. I have just completed a "Seasonal" wardrobe for one of my granddaughters's 18" girl dolls. I'm thinking about adding that line to my ETSY store.
ACRYLIC PAINTINGS
In 2011 I started painting landscapes, seascapes, sunsets etc. After I'd been painting for a few months, I found out my paternal grandfather was a painter. He died when I was very little and I didn't know this about him. I've seen one of his paintings of a palm tree.
I have done ceramics in various styles from hand building, throwing on a wheel, working with poured greenware, and bisque. I have 50 lbs of clay waiting for me to get to it. Most of the ceramics I have been doing recently are from the bisque state. I underglaze and have them fired or finish them with acrylic paint - depends on my mood.
FACEPAINTING
My newest venture into the arts and crafts business. If you are in North Pinellas, West Pasco, or West Tampa and looking for a unique addition to your next private or corporate event... give me a shout!!
DOLL CLOTHES
Eliana bought me a book of crochet patterns for 18" doll clothes. The message was clear, though unstated. She owns several Madame Alexander dolls and was more than happy to loan me one to use as a model to make sure the clothes would fit! I gave her a "Seasonal Wardrobe" for her birthday in 2013 (albeit a little late). The wardrobe can be seen here. There was an ensemble for each Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter and then an extra outfit that combines two of her loves - gymnastics and ballet.
